What The Future Holds for Culinary Arts Jobs

Posted by SKadmin on Jan-14-2012

Anyone who is interested in attending cooking school but who is unsure whether it’s a good idea right now due to the struggling economy can take heart. According to the federal government, most culinary arts jobs are set to grow at a normal rate in the coming years. When you consider that many industries are trending flat or even downward, this is good news indeed. From restaurants to corporate cafeterias to national catering corporations, this normal growth trend is expected to continue.

Find out more about the culinary arts industry.

Restaurant jobs themselves are predicted to grow by the tens of thousands per year during this period. By restaurants, this refers to all types of places which contain restaurants. Cruise ships, country clubs and hotels are just a few examples of restaurants expected to undergo this growth.

The same type of growth is expected at institutions in the culinary arts industry. This is made up of universities, schools, corporations, hospitals and more. The one exception to this rule lies in states where the budget prevents this growth. Said growth will likely surge in the event that these shortfalls are ameliorated.

Catering is another culinary arts industry which is doing just fine in the current economy and is projected to continue to do so in the future. Organizations of all sizes are expected to do well. No matter where you are in the country, catering is always a good bet for cooking school graduates.

Private chefs, on the other hand, can expect a growth rate less than that of other culinary ocupations. All in all, however, the culinary arts field is holding its own through these difficult conditions, so attending a cooking school is at least as solid a career path as any other.
