blown head gasket repair

If you find yourself in a position of requiring a replacement spring, you may run to the phone book to find your local repair man. You may be able to fix the problem yourself as long as you have the right mindset and set of tools. Here are a few things that you need to know when it comes to replacing extension springs in your garage door.

You’ll need the following set of tools:
• Vice Grips
• Work Gloves
• Screw Drivers
• Safety Goggles

Step 1 – Make sure that you’re wearing your gloves and goggles. Be sure you are able to pay close attention, and know that with the amount of tension residing within these springs, someone could be seriously injured. Make sure that you always take appropriate safety precautions.

Step 2 – Don’t make the mistake of simply replacing one spring without replacing the other one too. Just because one spring looks to be in good condition doesn’t mean that it’ll stay that way far into the future. Better to catch it now, than later on.

Step 3 – When trying to replace the springs, you first need to put the door in the utmost lifted position. Next, grab your vice grips and place one on each track in order to prohibit the wheels from moving.

Step 4 – Your next step will be unhooking each spring. Remember to be careful when working with springs that are still hooked up. You can remove the spring simply by pulling up from the top or pulling it down from the bottom.

Step 5 – You will need to call around to see who has the parts that you need. If they don’t have them readily available, ask them to order it.

Step 6 – After you have the springs in hand, then you can set out to install them. You should install the bottom part of the spring first so that you can pull it up to a point in which you’re able to attach the top part.

Step 7 – After the springs are in place, remove the vice grips and test out your door. Make sure to keep your ears open to see if you detect any strange noises coming from your garage door. If you didn’t do things properly or if something else goes wrong, then you may want to call a professional in to handle the repair work. Doc No. 34Sdlhgsdl -sds
